If you are married, or live with your partner like myself, then you are well aware of how vital date nights are. However, this is something we may forget until it is absolutely necessary that a night out take place. Getting stuck in the same old date night (or lack thereof) is definitely a thing. Taking the time and energy to elevate your regular dates is an absolute must. In this blog post, I’m going to give you the ultimate stay-cation to take as a couple! Perfect for taking your date night up a whole notch.
Personally, I love date nights. There is something so special about dressing up for the person you love and spending time together without distractions. Just like when you were first dating. Whether its going for wine and tapas, or taking a walk downtown after getting ice cream. These nights allow you to feel reconnected and reminded of the love and appreciation you have for one another.
Recently, my fiancé and I took date night to the next level and had a mini stay-cation in our city. I surprised my fiancé with a stay at the JW Marriott Ice District in our city. Let me tell you why you need to book a similar hotel stay in your own city immediately.
Splurging on a hotel stay for the night is a nice change from the typical “dinner and a movie”
Now, we all know how important date nights are when in a long-term relationship. However, it is sometimes possible to be stuck in a rut within our choices of these dates. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a classic movie date. I think going to the movies is perfect for when I just want to feel comfortable and cozy but would also like to leave the house.
That being said, you can’t have an actual conversation while watching a movie. So the aspect of spending time together without distractions is off the table. I think we should save movie dates for when we just want to overindulge on popcorn. And basically do what you do at home, but in a different environment.
Take the time to plan something for your person that is different from the typical choice. Whether thats going to the movies or to the neighbourhood restaurant you frequent. This is going to add excitement back into the time you spend with one another.
It makes for a perfect surprise
As I mentioned above, this was planned as a surprise for my fiancé. At this point he knew I was planning something but had no idea as to what. So while he was at work, I packed us both a bag and dropped it off at the hotel. To make it even more exciting, I had him meet me at the hotel bar (I had pre-arranged valet parking for him and had gotten myself dropped off so we could leave together the next morning). Once he arrived, we spent time having drinks and a few appetizers at the bar before retreating to the room for the night.
Now this might sound like an expensive date night to you, but it doesn’t have to be. I chose a fancy and central hotel, but you can always go for a cheaper, more low-key option. I do still believe it’s worth it to splurge a little, especially as a surprise. And I mean with the pricing of movies, it’s not that much of a difference really, especially after all that extra butter.
Save your money and splurge on a fun hotel stay for you and your person! Trust me, a fun and local hotel is the ultimate stay-cation to take as a couple.
Because who doesn’t love sleepovers?
Something I really do love to look back on from the beginning stages of my relationship is all the sleepovers we would have, both intentional and unintentional. Those first few sleepovers are just so new and exciting. You bring your overnight bag, you have your own little drawer, and you spend the night cooking/ordering in, drinking wine and staying up to the early hours talking about any and everything.
Spending the night in a hotel together takes you back to these beginning days. You’re recreating those first sleepovers, and things are back to being unfamiliar and exciting. Regardless of your love language, surprising your partner is something we should all do more, and this is one exciting and unexpected way to do that. I for one, can’t think of one person who doesn’t appreciate being spoiled by the person they love.
And besides, who doesn’t love robes and room service?
And there you have it! That is the ultimate stay-cation to take as a couple and WHY it’s necessary (and fun)!
The best hotel stay-cation every couple needs to take
I hope you enjoyed this read and really think of taking a similar staycation with whoever you keep near and dear to your heart. Taking the time to spoil the ones we love never goes unnoticed. Making those around you feel good and well loved will only strengthen your love for them as well.
So do it! Book a hotel (cheap or a splurge) and spend the night with your person. Put on those robes, order room service, and completely unplug from the world around you. I promise you that you will feel more connected and rebalanced than before.
We all know that going on vacations is great for the soul. Vacations are the time when you get to live and exist in a space other than your own. Being able to surround yourself with the unknown gives you a sense of excitement and escape all in one. You know that feeling of returning from a long and relaxing vacation? That pure peace? Nothing beats that. So, taking a mini stay-cation with the person you love is going to give you exactly that. Or at least a little dose of that escape, which we could definitely ALL use!
