In the beginning of long winter months, we are first met with a slew of rainy days. Before the snow and the bone-chilling cold we see fallen leaves and cloudy skies. These early winter days are perfect for looking chic and cozy without having to bundle up entirely. All of my fellow fashion lovers will get exactly what I mean by that, right?! In this blog post, I’m going to share with you how I styled these chic winter neutrals and where exactly I bought each piece. I’m also going to review each item for you and give you links to some similar pieces.
My favourite part of fall and winter fashion is styling oversized pieces with more form-fitting items. The combination of these two different fits offers depth to each outfit. Then, topping this combination off with a large coat completes the look by adding further depth and texture.
In this blog post, I’m going to show you how this multi-textured look. That way, you too will be able to create a look of chic winter neutrals. This look is perfect for rainy days (as you can see in my pictures). Although these pieces can also be worn into the colder winter months and simply topped off with some mitts and a matching toque.
What I’m Wearing: Camel Coat
Mango Handmade Wool Coat: CAD $229 – I’m wearing a size medium
This jacket is definitely the star of the show with this look. This winter season, camel coloured coats are all the rage. I’m seeing coats just like this one in nearly every store I look. These coats are the perfect neutral layer to add to basically any winter outfit you have in your closet. So, if you haven’t picked up a camel coat just yet, I highly recommend you do so. Seriously… do it. Now.
This Mango handmade wool coat is an incredible coat. If you’ve ever purchased something from Mango then you know they make good quality items. This coat is no exception to this. Trust me when I tell you that this coat is more than worth the splurge. This is made of such thick and high quality fabric that will keep you warm and cozy, even during colder months.
As far as the overall fit of this coat, I recommend sizing up. I’m often in-between a small and medium for most clothing items. I went for a medium with this purchase and it fits great on me with just enough room for layering sweaters underneath. So if you hover between sizes like I do, I would just go for the larger size. Besides, it’s way better to have a coat with more room than one that is way too tight.

What I’m Wearing: Turtleneck Sweater
H&M Beige Turtleneck Sweater: CAD 35.99 (currently on sale!) – I’m wearing a medium
I LOVE this sweater. The material of this sweater is so unbelievably soft. It’s made of a nice wool blend but is not at all itchy or coarse. I also have this sweater in the green colour because I loved it just that much. The arms of this sweater are a nice thick cut and are so flattering regardless of your shape. The front of this sweater is slightly shorter than the back, so it can easily tuck into your jeans without being too bulky.
I always recommend sizing up when it comes to H&M sweaters. Mainly because they always look better when they’re more oversized. But also because they have a tendency of shrinking overtime through washing and drying. I’ve washed this sweater a few times already and it hasn’t shrunk or lost its softness so a total win-win!

What I’m Wearing: Black Jeans
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle: CAD $128 – I’m wearing a size 27
I’ve featured these jeans in a previous blog post which you can find here. I cannot say enough good things about this pair of jeans. These are a true denim material, but have a bit of stretch in them. This slight stretch is just enough to fit more comfortably and hug your curves in a sleek yet flattering way. These jeans are also a true straight leg which is so flattering to wear with boots like I have.
Like I talked about in the post linked above, I’ve had these jeans tailored and hemmed to fit more comfortably. I had this done when I bought them from the Levi’s store and they did an excellent job. Another plus of Levi’s? Teacher discounts! All you need to do it show your teacher/school ID and you get 15% off. How great is that?!

These are my new favourite boots! I wore these for an entire weekend of rain and hours of walking a day and they’re in mint condition (and so are my feet)! These are definitely a great buy and would recommend these for this fall and winter season. These boots make for the perfect chic winter neutrals accessory.
